WE GOT A NEW CAR TRAILER!!!

scroll down to the bottom...

has been around for 23+ years. Having started drag racing on the streets of Oroville in 1985, and then moving to the race track in 1986 at Oro Dam Raceway in Oroville, Ca. The first year racing a '64 Chevy Nova, Penny established her track presence by obtaining the Rookie of the Year award and hasn't stopped. She's come a long way from a 283 cu in Chevy V-8 with a 4-speed to a Blown Alcohol 6 second dragster! Earning her credentials the hard way... one 1/4 mile at a time.

In 1991, she bracket raced and WON the 17 event series in her class (Super Pro) at the Sacramento Raceway Park and secured a position on the team to represent Sac Raceway in the TNN/Chief Auto Parts Bracket Finals held in Bakersfield competing in the Race Of Champions. Finishing 3rd in the state level of competition she went on to faster categories and began racing the Super E Association. Having only bracket raced at et's of 8-9 seconds, the change to the 7.90 index proved to be quite a challenge on a self sponsored budget! For the next 5 years, the PTR Team competed in the 7.90 class and finished every year in the top 10.

Attending car shows like the Kool April Nites event in Redding Ca. is an annual event for the PTR Team. Being invited to Cal-Expo for the State Fair was exciting as well.

In 2003 the team decided to step up to the Top Gas West class of outlaws and run the 6.30 et index. The fastest Sportsman class recognized by NHRA and it proves to be every bit as difficult as any class to run. The first year, PTR Team finished in the top 5 and had to run the Blown Alcohol 540 engine/Powerglide against such combos as Donovan/Lenco's, Keith Black/B & J, just to name a couple. These were old Top Alcohol race cars that had been taken out of the cutting edge competition and still run on limited budgets by similar funded individuals for the fun of it. (don't think this was easy! It was quite difficult to compete when you run all-out and risk breaking things that take next weeks rent check to pay for!)

Our Mission

To be safe and have as much fun as we can, keeping up on the most important bills, and spending every other dollar we have on our toys and necessities.

Projects:

The SECOND big project, now underway, is the rebuilding and refinishing of the alcohol dragster. Yep, after almost 8 years the 'ol Hot Rod is getting a face lift. New body panels, paint, wiring, even new steel braid lines. Since we took the blown engine and used it in the boat, we now will build up a NEW 540 for the car. The dragster will get a fresh coat of paint on the chassis after every weld is inspected and any questionable spots repaired. The zoomies, the wing struts and other shiny stuff will get a re-chrome job done on them and the aluminum pieces will get a fresh purple anodizing done. Lots to do, the time flys when you're having fun.
